Lime-pickled Red Onion

from Smitten Kitchen

red onion, in small dice or thin slices
fresh squeezed lime juice, to cover the onions
salt to taste (about 1/8 teaspoon for 1/4 cup of onion)

stir and let sit for at least 10 minutes
