French Silk Chocolate Pie

I will always remember that I first made this when I was about 12 and staying with my bestest friend and her family at their mountain cabin.  We had so much fun, and this pie was (and is) so good…

25 crushed vanilla wafers
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup melted butter
Mix together, press into pie pan, bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees F, and cool.

1 ounce unsweetened chocolate, melted (I have seen similar recipes with more chocolate – maybe could handle 2 squares?)
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs

Sweetened whipped cream

Cream butter and sugar in electric mixer.  Add melted chocolate and vanilla.  Add one egg and beat 5 minutes at medium speed.  Repeat with second egg. Turn into cooled pie crust and chill 2-3 hours.  Top with sweetened whipped cream and chill until serving time.
